Ways to Engage
Ways to Engage
Want to schedule a class visit to The CORE?
The MSU Broad Art Museum is home to a wide range of works which offer students direct interactions with art to facilitate discussions that will contribute to the overall impact of your course. In-person visits for university groups can be arranged Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm. Another option is to arrange for a self-guided experience. Self-guide materials are available by appointment Wednesday–Sunday from 10am–5pm.
Reservations for all group visits (guided or self-guided) should be made at least two weeks in advance by contacting our Director of Education, Michelle Word, at wordmich@msu.edu.

Virtual Class Engagement
MSU Broad Art Museum staff are here to support your teaching and research needs, including: selecting relevant objects from the collection that are in dialogue with the themes, goals, and/or discussion topics of your course; providing high-resolution images of objects in the permanent collection, when available; sharing background research material on individual artworks; joining your class via Zoom to speak about the museum, its exhibitions, and its collection.

Appraisals and Authentication of Artwork
Following the policies of the American Alliance of Museums, no staff member of the MSU Broad Art Museum may offer appraisals or authentications. There are many places that can assist you with researching your artwork and/or estimating its value.
The Smithsonian American Art Museum has a website for researching art, as does the Getty Center. To find an appraiser, please consult: Appraisers Association of America or International Society of Appraisers.
Conservation
The MSU Libraries, Conservation & Preservation Unit has a website addressing frequently asked questions along with a conservation referral list. Please visit lib.msu.edu/preservation for more.
