Dalina A. Perdomo Álvarez

Assistant Curator

Dalina A. Perdomo Álvarez sees how her lived experience has led her to work within museums. “My background as an unschooler has made me an enthusiast of all forms of education, so working at a university museum—especially a free and accessible one—is a natural fit for me.” She holds an MA in Film Studies from the Department of Cinematic Arts at The University of Iowa. Dalina came to the MSU Broad Art Museum in 2021 by way of Chicago, where she previously served as the Curatorial Fellow at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, and worked at The National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture and the Video Data Bank. Outside of work, Dalina continues to engage with art by playing the violin and furthering her research in Latin American/Latinx cinema and media—particularly the film history of Puerto Rico, where she was born and raised.
