Meghan Collins
Museum Educator: K-12 and Family Programs
Meghan Collins gets to spend every day planning “the most wonderful art programs and events for our local families and schools, enabling access to quality art education throughout our community.” She loves to provide opportunities for future educators and museum professionals through internships with the education team, and is most proud when an intern comes to form their own philosophy of teaching and learning through art and implements projects, tours, and programs of their own design. She came to the MSU BAM in 2015 after having taught art in K–8 public schools in Lansing and Montgomery County, Maryland. She is part of the School for Art Leaders through the National Art Education Association and a regional liaison for the Michigan Art Education Association. She holds an MA in art education from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a BFA in art education from MSU, and is originally from Saline, Michigan. Outside of work she immerses herself in art activities on her own and with her daughter, and explores the area with her family, making time for bike rides, walks along the River Trail, and kayak trips. She also enjoys vegan cooking.
