In the Making: Creative Classroom

In the Making: Creative Classroom
Are your K–12 students feeling creative? So are we! We know that visiting the museum in person isn’t always an option, so we’re piloting a new Creative Classroom program for the 2025–26 academic year for schools within 10 miles of the museum.
Sign up for a Creative Classroom visit with the MSU Broad Art Museum K–12 Engagement Team. We’ll bring art supplies, a fun presentation featuring art from the museum, and an art project that encourages creativity, student voice, and community building.
Themes for the 2025–26 academic year include:
September–November: Places We Know
Let’s look at ways artists around the world creatively show us their favorite places! Students will explore the idea of “place” as they use paint sticks and collage materials to share a place that is special to them.
January–February: Things We Care About
Artists invite us to consider new ideas and viewpoints through their work. Students will share their perspectives through printmaking—building and inking up their own printing plate to share their ideas through art.
March–April: Dreams We Have
One of the jobs of an artist is to imagine! Let’s look at the ways artists from around the world show us their dreams and wishes for the future. Students will transform their ideas into sculptures using air dry clay and markers.
In the Making: Young Minds at the MSU Broad Art Museum K–12 programs, like Creative Classroom, are generously sponsored by the Park West Foundation. Limit 3 Creative Classroom visits per educator per school year. Please complete a new form for each visit. All Creative Classroom visits are scheduled from 9:30–10:30am due to K–12 Engagement Team student schedules. This program can visit multiple classrooms within the same school at the same time, up to 3 classes at once.
Availability is limited and spots fill quickly. Creative Classroom visits must be booked a minimum of two weeks in advance. The museum is committed to accessibility for all visitors. For access information or to request an accommodation, please contact us at eebam@msu.edu at least two weeks prior to your visit.
