Shape Shift: The Art of Coming Undone
Ever feel like you're coming undone—in a good way? In connection with the exhibition unbecoming, this three-part studio series invites us to explore transformation through artistic practice. Drawing on the creative habits and studio mindsets of artists, Shape Shift offers a space to unravel and reimagine who we are, and who we might yet become. Each session starts with close looking and conversation in the galleries, followed by a hands-on workshop featuring movement, writing, or visual art.

In this session of Shape Shift, we’ll be guided on a written journey by Dr. LeConté J. Dill. A faculty member in the MSU Department of African American and African Studies, Dr. Dill centers wellness in her work, weaving together meditation, poetry, and somatic movement as tools for reflection and healing. Bring your favorite pen and journal (or laptop)—and your voice, however it shows up!
No previous art experience is necessary. All you need is a willingness to explore, reflect, and reimagine.
We’d love to see you at this event! Register for free.
On view Jun. 7–Dec. 14, 2025, unbecoming is a survey of paintings and sculptures by Diana Al-Hadid that questions how constructions of femininity take form over time.
