Colors Through Darkness: An Original Performance by Tracie Morris
Multidisciplinary artist and theorist Tracie Morris uses recorded and live performance, sound, and moving image to collaborate with the exhibition Jan Tichy: Darkness. Join us and the MSU Poetry Center for an evening of poetic interventions where Morris considers Black diaspora concepts of color, gender, darkness, language, mystery, and land. Blending traditional African, avant-garde, and feminist elements, her work reframes both literal and metaphorical dimensions of darkness—expanding how we perceive color, presence, and absence within Tichy’s immersive installation.
We’d love to see you at this event!
On view January 31–July 26, 2026, Jan Tichy: Darkness invites us to reconsider our relationship to circadian rhythms, the natural environment, and the generative potential of the dark.
