Art Speaks: Reparations Reframed
What can art teach us about justice? Join us for an evening with collaborators from the Justice League of Greater Lansing Michigan as they discuss their contributions to the exhibition Farmland. The Justice League of Greater Lansing Michigan aims to address the impact of slavery, fostering relationships and reparations to boost wealth equity for African Americans in Lansing. Want to see Farmland in person? Arrive early—galleries will close when the event begins. Registration for this free event is encouraged.
Panelists include Willye Bryan (Founder), Prince Solace (President), and Betty Sanford (Advisory Council Member) of the Justice League of Greater Lansing Michigan; Mila Lynn, visual artist; and Greta McHaney-Trice (Educational Consultant) of Pave the Way: I-496 Project.
On view from Jan. 18–Jul. 27, 2025, Farmland: Food, Justice, and Sovereignty explores the crucial questions of food knowledge, security, and justice against the background of Michigan State University’s 170-year history in agricultural tradition.
