Studio Squad: Art Book Edition!

Calling all creative kids ages 9–12! Make art while hanging out with others who share a passion for making in this weekly virtual art program with the MSU Broad. In this edition of Studio Squad we will be making our own books to collect big ideas, creative responses, and of course contain all the art we create.

Participants will engage with one month of virtual, after-school, art-making adventures with the MSU Broad.

When does Studio Squad meet?

Designed as an after-school program, Studio Squad sessions are offered monthly and meet once a week on Wednesdays from 4:30–5:30pm via Zoom. These four weekly virtual meet-ups are designed to build a community of friendship through art. We encourage participants to attend each week to help foster strong creative relationships with fellow group members.

Sign up for one month or more! Enrollment will be open through one week prior to the session start date or until a session reaches capacity.

Studio Squad Handbook

How exactly does it work?

We’ll meet in groups to create individually and together, while learning about art from around the world. Each weekly club meet-up is led by two MSU student instructors from the MSU Broad Education Team. Groups will meet for one hour.

Who is teaching Studio Squad?

The program is designed and overseen by MSU Broad Education staff members, including a certified K-12 art educator. All our instructors are MSU students who work on K-12 and Family Programs at the MSU Broad.

Who can join?

We are offering Studio Squad to young artists ages 9–12.

What about supplies + technology?

We’ll provide the art supplies; you provide the online access. Children will need access to a phone, tablet, or computer that has video capabilities to participate in this club. Your registration fee includes a materials kit with all the supplies needed for Studio Squad. Material shipping will take place one week before Studio Squad starts. If you have any questions about your materials, please contact Ellie Anderson, Education and Family Programs Fellow, at

How do I register?

Registration will be available on our website beginning January 6, 2022. Cost of registration ($50) covers one month of instruction and materials. The registration deadline for February is January 26, and the registration deadline for March is February 23.

Attending with a friend?

Studio Squad is a great way for young artists to stay connected. Let us know and we'll do our best to make sure you can create together.
