The Master of Fine Arts Exhibition marks the culmination of a three-year degree program that emphasizes extensive creative exploration under the supervision of a faculty guidance committee. Focused study in an area of concentration, as well as coursework in art history and related fields helps each artist situate their work within the larger discourse that characterizes the practice of art today. The creative research of Ryan Groendyk, Volodymyr Shcherbak, Steven Stradley, Deborah Wheeler, and Rebekah Zurenko stand as evidence of achievement and promise.
As we celebrate the inaugural year of exhibitions in the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum MSU, we look forward to future collaborations between the Broad and Department of Art | Art History | Design. We also extend our gratitude to The Graduate School of Michigan State University for its sponsorship of this exhibition.
In addition to the artists displayed in the Berding Family Gallery, you will find work by the 2013 Master of Fine Arts Candidates located on the lower level of the museum, in the sculpture garden, and Education Wing.
