Become a Broad MSU Docent!

What exactly is a docent?
A docent is someone who serves as a guide and educator in a museum. Docents are enthusiastic, creative, and enjoy sharing their knowledge and excitement of contemporary art with the public. They present engaging, interactive tours of the museum and serve as an interpretation guide for visitors.

Docents tour different groups through the galleries—this may include school groups, the general public, university classes, and groups from other institutions. Docents are trained to interpret our collection and current exhibitions to aid the visitor in experiencing contemporary art.

The class will run every Monday from 4–6pm, September 11–December 11, 2017. Training will consist of lectures on modern and contemporary art as well as hands-on sessions in the galleries. We incorporate the most current touring strategies and techniques and address how to talk to different populations about art.
